eventful day

well today was a bit of standing around and waiting for everything in the race to be inspected, the bikes and the support vehicles, everything went well , then there was a big race meeting with all the teams we are racing against, a lot of people its kinda sickening, so much support, makes my rides/tours feel so much more fun and relaxed, im getting used to being in a car witch is not my type of thing, but its only for five days and it should be a hell of a time, the people are all really nice and funny to be around so its gona be interesting to go through, no sleep and i might go on a pbj fast, i could use it. so things are good .

Havent had a computer in a while

we made it to San Diego, all is well and now i'm sitting in a Hotel in Carlsbad with all the folks on the RAAM team i'm helping out. about to ride across the country in 5 days starting Saturday at 2:00. While we were in San Diego we checked out the tuesday races at the Velodrome, it was neat. they had some endurance races goin on. today we packed the bikes up and sent them out of a bike shop Velo Cult, www.velocult.com .located in South Park. a bad ass bike shop if your into bikes you should look up those guys, they have all the rad old frames, or at least f-ing sweet ones from vintage to new track to mountain, those guys are great, beer on tap, for the workers at least, if your lucky you could get a glass. or if you rode your bike there anyhow.
well i just might try to upload some things here on this computer because i think it will let me.
cool talk again when i can

day 17 San Francisco to Santa Cruz

We woke up early and got moving, walked down Haight St. to a really old cafe called Pork Store Cafe, that started in the 20's, we ate the usual Gut butter ball grease filling. headed out of SF, up into Daly City then up and down and up and down along the 1 we rode to Half Moon Bay to get some food at the store, sat in the sun and rode none stop for 50 miles in to Santa Cruz, about a 80mile day, got there and sat on the Board walk, rode around looking for a place to get food, ran into a rad Kid named Max, who told us where to eat and invited us to have a beer at a pub where we met his friend Mary, then later we all went over to Mary's house which was a 2 million dollar house up in the hills, crazy nice, old cedar wood house, she owns horses and a nice dog named Bronx, it was a great night sleep, I got to play a really nice Martin Guitar that satisfied my heart.
lovely time in Santa Cruz
We just got invited by some other kids to go out to there ranch on the 1 a little further south so thats what were doing tonight
love you all

day 16 San Jose San Fran Rest day

Rest Day, which is a great day. didnt do much a lot of laying around, ate some Pho' at a neat old Vietnamese joint with Justin, ate some Duck Pho' was really tasty. went back to SF. and bopped around a bit went to Coit tower drank some beer and relaxed in the sun, Went to a pub and watched the Stanley Cup Finals game, Pitt. won the game people were all about Pitt. in the pub, everyone was going wild, hootin and tootin. we went back to Aayesha's house, the girl we met the other day, we ate some dinner there and it was an amazing rib dish. then pass out time. great day off.

Day 15 june 1st.

woke up to stupid shit kids being incredibly loud right next to our campsite, a little fucker bird, ate one of my cliff bars and a bunch of chocolate covered coffee beans, I dumped the rest out on the ground saying " I hope the bird eats the rest and has a heart attack." rode to Lagunitas, drank coffee, breakfast snack, saw another guy moving pretty slow , heading to SF. rode into Sf on back roads and bike paths, ate some GUT SLUDGE, made it to the Golden Gate Bridge, tuns of tourists, rode into the city, around Haight St. watched a bunch of crazy folks ramble around, took some pictures and waited for our friend Justin to get off Work. drinking Coffee at a local little shop, apartments above, a girl pokes her head out the window and says " You guys lost?". " we're always lost" I said. " well you hungry?, or would you like some wine?" she said
"yes, that would be amazing." woooopty she came down and let us upstairs. we hung out as she cooked some nice din din, then Justin came over there and met them as well, we took off with Justin, to San Jose and stayed up late like little kids.
passed out in a bed which was well needed. long day. a lot happened, hard to remember it all.
love you

Day 14 to sam p taylor state park

Rode to the gettin place, got food and fueled up for the day, 10:30 went 40 miles to Jenner at 1:30 good climbs great descents, on the high coast. Ate lunch in Jenner at a nice little cafe Cafe Aquatica . kept on , to more climbs about 20 miles to Tomalos, an hour inland now, "felt like someone was stabbing me in the legs on the climbs with a big pen". Jeremy. rode to Sam p. Taylor state park, met some other guys touring an older man named John from McCaul Idaho he started from Eugene going to San Fran, he was a day away form done, sat by the fire, and listened to another guy who was hiking around the area, he loved talking, and he said he was into cycling "back in the day" and " My legs are so strong that every time I climb a hill on my bike I Brake a derailure" he was a a goofball dude with a huge black tooth in the front of his face. I drew a picture of him that i'll try to get up here. passed out easy after an 85 mile day

Day 13 Mendocino to Gualala

left town about 9:00, nobody in Mendocino takes debit or credit, just so you know. this guy that owned the cafe showed us some new Groovy titanium handle bars he just got, we rode to the end of Mendo to a bike shop called Catch a canoe and bicycles to the guys there let me use the tools i needed to shut my bike up from its bitchy crybaby sounds it was whimpering from the bottom bracket. sweet shop, ran into a 50 year old guy who was touring from Oakland up to Seattle then back down the Continental Divide, really nice man. chatted fro a bit with him, left the shop at about 1:00 rode to Elk where we enjoyed some "gut sludge" rode onto Gualala that borders mendocino county and sonoma county. total of 60 miles for the day tired, tried to find a place to watch the Stanley Cup game but no one watched hockey there. We rode on down to the river and camped , no fire tonight. just sleep.. the ride today was amazing, windy up and down all day it felt like a chunk of Scotland or Ireland. grassy plains on the cliffs of the ocean.

Day 12 Garber ville first early morning

Woke up in the school yard, 8:30 which was a good start for us, as you can see we like our sleepy time. banana yogurt coffee, finally ate the granola that I had been lugging around for a week or so, went to try for a 100 plus day, so we hit the road. 25 miles to Legget where we hooked up with the hwy 1 at legget we were presented with an ass kicking climb session, was not too easy, got to West Port , the ride was awesome with some big climbs and big descents, passed a couple from Victoria BC on the second climb, they were nice, then we ate leftover china woooo and crackers, kicked it at the market for a few hours, saw the people we passed then after them came another two from canada as well, nice folks from those parts. all of them were just heading to San Francisco. pushed a VW bus to get them started, some folks from Portland. hit the road, onto Fort Bragg, legs were getting tired and I was hacking up green shit all day from some hay or grass i think or whatever sorta allergy i formed, its getting better now though, all we could think about was Drinking Beer, it just tastes soooo damn goood. got to Fort Bragg for a total of 70 miles. drank.ate. met some nice women who offered us a place to stay in Mendocino, went to Mendocino, passed out.
thats it.

day11 waking up and figuring out that bike shops in Arcata don't help people that ride bikes

Mornin in Arcata, walked down the street and found some sludge at a nice little breakfast place, we randomly ran into lycra boy, then I (sean) needed to use a crank puller to stop my crank from creaking, but went to all 4 bike shops in the town and not one of the shops would let me whip off my crank arms for less then $15, they wanted me to pay them $15 to let me use a tool that would take me ten seconds to use. weeeediculaaasss. went on down the Road to Eureka ate lunch, kept riding at 3:00 2o miles stopped at a small road side truck stop, and the ladies in the stop were really nice and gave us a soda and water, on the house. Rode 45 more miles up some hills to Garberville, ate chinese food and slept at a school. 75 miles for the day.

Day ten..............5-27-09

On the beach , woke up , with ocean view we ate some raspberry filled doughnuts, a kid who was climbing at lost rocks as well came over to us and told us that it was 2:30 pm which we had no idea what time it was, we never doo, so a nice big late start today. I (Sean) fell back asleep, and Jeremy climbed for a little while more then we packed up and walked our bikes down the beach. rode our bikes bare footed to a little camp tore that had a hearty breakfast of lays chips, string cheese, poppy seed muffin, red vines, coke, and coffee. its amazing what you are forced to eat in the strange places of the U.S. 3:45 took off down the coastal road which was a dirt road, with steep grades. It was a late start but we wanted to get to Arcata, Ca. about 50 plus miles away, so we started a bookinit. Rode through huge Red woods in Elk Prairie, as well as big ol Elk. stopped in Orick for some sludge in the guts, (biscuits n gravey with pancakes and coffee). left Orick at 6:45 and made it to Arcata at sunset. stopped and ate a whole pizza, ran into some people we saw at the climbing spot, we got offered to buy Weed twice the first 10 seconds we were there, ( huge weed head town) and also offered an ounce of Weed in trade for our bikes, so we traded our our bikes and now we are stuck in Arcata cause we smoked the potweed, man that would suck if we were that stupid. it was a funny interaction with that kid cause it happend that night then he somhow forgot that we didnt want any weed from him and we saw him in the morning leaving town and he asked us again. POEple are funny here. BIKE SHOPS In Arcata also suck. (in Day 11) . we slept in a courtyard of a church right in town, never got bothered, slept really well.

After 90 miles, woke up late on the beach, Rode to the Cal. state Line. stopped at a Shell Station for some doughnuts and Coffee, while sitting there we talked to an older guy named Cappy, he was jabbering our ears off, he left then zipped back into the parking lot to say " you guys hungry?, my wife is cooking diinner it'll be ready at 3:30 if thats not too late." it was 12:30 but we didnt give two shits, so we jumped in the pick up and he drove us up the hill to his mansion of a house and the other 250 acres taht he was sub dividing to sell. it over looked the Pacific ocean and some Mountains. Beautiful. so we Played Pool and drank a bunch of beer, got sorta drunk and very full from way to much really good food. then around 5:30 he took us back down to the 101 where we layed on the road and didnt start riding for an hour, we rode 19 miles to Cresent City and got food for Lost rocks the climbing spot a few miles south of Klamath, Ca.
