Day 7 5/24/09

                     the Gut Sludge meal

                             funny old bike

Left Bandon, Or at about 12:30 and made it to Port Orford in just over an hour (25 miles) nice tail wind. Ran into a fellow tourer named Bobby from Seattle. He was leaving the cafe we pulled into to eat. We had some Biscuits and gravy and some pancakes left about an 1:30 minutes later. We caught up to Bobby in about 19 miles and passed him up. Crossed Oregons highest bridge and made what seemed like a never ending climb into Brookings. Had some fries and coney dogs at a tavern and headed out to find camp. It wa sgetting dark and we went down a random dirt road to try to get to the beach and got chased by some pit bull named Burly. His owner was yelling Burly get back he as we high tailed it out of there. Made it to a park on the beach at dark and got down to the beach were a lady came crying up to us asking if we saw her 4 year old son. We asked his name "Hunter" we began looking down the beach for a while in the dark. Thinking he may be in the water was pretty freaky. They finally found him about a mile down the beach the other direction afraid of the waves he kept running that way. We built up an exsisting fort and had a fire then hit the sand.
